Wildmeadow Learning Preschool

Welcome

Wildmeadow Learning Preschool is a fully outdoor, play based learning program where children grow through exploration, curiosity, and meaningful experiences in nature. Serving children ages 3 to 6, our program brings children together in a mixed age learning community where they build friendships, confidence, and independence while learning from one another.

At Wildmeadow Learning, the outdoors is our classroom. Children spend their days exploring the natural world, creating with natural materials, observing the changing seasons, and engaging in imaginative play. We also support healthy, developmentally appropriate risky play such as climbing, balancing, and navigating natural obstacles, helping children build resilience, problem solving skills, and confidence.

Through outdoor discovery, play, and supportive relationships, Wildmeadow Learning nurtures the whole child while fostering curiosity, independence, and a lifelong connection to nature.

"Children still need a childhood with dirt, mud, puddles, trees, sticks and tadpoles."

Meet the Teachers

April Sonsteng-Owner/Director/Teacher

Hello, my name is April Sonsteng, and I am the owner of Wildmeadow Learning Preschool. I have worked in the early childhood field for over 20 years and hold an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting children and families in many different roles, always with the goal of helping children grow with confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

I am also the mother of two wonderful daughters, who continue to inspire my passion for creating spaces where children can truly enjoy being children. I believe childhood is a special time that should be filled with exploration, imagination, and meaningful experiences.

Wildmeadow Learning was created from my belief that children learn best through play, discovery, and time spent outdoors. I am passionate about creating an environment where children can explore nature, take healthy risks, build friendships, and develop independence while experiencing the joy of learning through play and outdoor exploration.
