I'm April Sonsteng, founder and teacher at Wildmeadow Learning, and I'm so grateful you've taken the time to learn about the dream, the purpose, and the heart behind Wildmeadow Learning.
For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside young children and their families in a variety of early childhood settings. I hold an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and throughout my career I have seen firsthand how capable children are when they are given the time, trust, and opportunity to explore, solve problems, and grow with confidence.
I'm also the proud mom of two incredible daughters. Becoming a mother deepened my appreciation for how meaningful the early years of childhood truly are and strengthened my desire to create a place where children can simply enjoy being children.
Wildmeadow Learning began with a simple dream: to create a place where children could experience the same freedom, wonder, and connection to nature that shaped my own childhood.
I grew up on this very property, spending countless hours climbing trees, building forts, exploring the woods, getting muddy, and letting my imagination lead the way. Looking back, those simple childhood adventures helped shape the person I am today. They inspired me to create Wildmeadow Learning so other children could experience that same joy, curiosity, confidence, and connection with the natural world.
At Wildmeadow Learning, children are given the time and space to wonder, create, explore, take healthy risks, solve problems, build meaningful friendships, and discover what they are capable of. My hope is that every child leaves Wildmeadow Learning with muddy boots, a curious mind, a confident heart, and memories they'll carry with them long after preschool.
Creating Wildmeadow Learning has been an incredible joy, and I feel truly grateful to share this special place with the families who become part of the Wildmeadow Learning community.
