Wildmeadow Learning Preschool

Program Overview

Wildmeadow Learning Preschool is a fully outdoor, play based learning program designed to support children’s natural curiosity, development, and love of exploration. Our program serves children ages 3 to 6 and brings children together in a mixed age learning community where they grow and learn alongside one another through shared experiences in nature.

At Wildmeadow Learning, the outdoors is our classroom. Children spend their days exploring the natural environment, engaging in imaginative play, building with natural materials, observing the changing seasons, and discovering the world around them. Outdoor learning encourages children to move their bodies, develop problem solving skills, build confidence, and strengthen social connections with their peers.

Time spent outdoors provides many important benefits for children’s development. Being outside supports physical health, improves focus and creativity, encourages independence, and helps children build resilience and confidence. Our program also supports healthy, developmentally appropriate risky play such as climbing, balancing, building, and navigating natural obstacles. These experiences help children develop body awareness, confidence, and problem solving skills.

Wildmeadow Learning operates fully outdoors throughout the year. To provide shelter when needed, our space includes a 20 by 20 covered carport that offers protection from rain or strong sun while still allowing children to remain connected to the outdoor environment.

Our program offers both morning and afternoon sessions.

Morning Session
8:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Afternoon Session
12:30 PM to 3:30 PM

Families may choose from the following enrollment options.

Four Day Program
Monday through Thursday
Morning session or afternoon session

Two Day Program
Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday
Morning session or afternoon session

Each session provides children with meaningful time to explore, play, create, and connect with nature. Our daily rhythm includes free exploration, group gathering time, nature discovery, creative projects, snack, and reflection before the day ends.

At Wildmeadow Learning, our goal is to create a warm and supportive outdoor learning community where children can build friendships, develop independence, and experience the joy of learning through play, exploration, and connection with the natural world.

What to Expect at Wildmeadow Learning

Wildmeadow Learning Preschool is an outdoor learning program where children spend their time exploring, playing, and discovering in nature. Because our program takes place outdoors, children should arrive each day ready for active outdoor play and adventure.

Children should be dressed for the weather and prepared to explore the natural environment. Outdoor learning often includes climbing, digging, building, and exploring, which means children will get dirty and may occasionally come home with a few scrapes or bruises. These experiences are a natural and healthy part of active outdoor play and help children build resilience, confidence, and physical awareness.

Children should bring a backpack to preschool each day that includes a change of seasonally appropriate clothes, their snack, and a water bottle. We encourage families to pack clothing that can get messy and is comfortable for movement and outdoor exploration.

Wildmeadow Learning does not serve snack and does not have a fixed snack time. Instead, children are encouraged to listen to their bodies and eat when they feel hungry during the session. This helps support independence and awareness of their own needs.

Parents are also asked to provide a pair of rubber boots that will remain at the preschool so children are always prepared for muddy or wet conditions.

By preparing children with the right clothing and supplies, we can ensure they are comfortable, safe, and able to fully enjoy the outdoor learning experience.
