Wildmeadow Learning is a fully outdoor, play based program where childhood is honored and learning happens naturally through exploration, movement, and connection to the natural world.
We promote mixed age learning, where children of different ages learn alongside one another in a single, supportive group. This creates opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and meaningful social growth, while allowing each child to be met where they are in their own development.
Our days are not centered around rigid schedules or structured lessons, but instead follow a natural rhythm that allows children the time and space to explore, create, and discover. We believe children learn best when they are engaged, curious, and free to move.
At Wildmeadow Learning, we also value the importance of risky play. Children are given opportunities to climb, build, balance, and explore in ways that help them develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of independence, all within a safe and supportive environment.
Above all, Wildmeadow Learning is a place where children can truly be children. A place where they can get dirty, use their imagination, build friendships, and experience the joy of learning through play and outdoor exploration.
Yes! Wildmeadow Learning is open year round, providing a consistent and nurturing outdoor environment for children throughout the seasons. We follow the Lake Stevens School District break schedule for holidays and closures, allowing families to plan around a familiar school calendar. In addition, we take a short seasonal break the week before and the week after Labor Day to prepare our environment and thoughtfully transition into the new year. This time allows us to reset our space and ensures we are ready to provide a calm, well prepared, and enriching experience for the children as we begin again together.
Weather related closures will be communicated to families through Brightwheel, our primary communication platform. Families will receive timely updates as soon as a decision is made, typically in the early morning when needed.
Because we are an outdoor program, we are able to operate in most weather conditions and closures will be rare. However, in cases of severe weather, unsafe conditions, or extreme temperatures, we will prioritize the safety of children and staff when making closure decisions.
We encourage families to check Brightwheel regularly for updates and notifications, especially during times of inclement weather.
Snacks are not provided at Wildmeadow Learning. Families are asked to pack a snack for their child each day.
We do not have a set snack time. Instead, children are encouraged to listen to their bodies and eat when they feel hungry during the session. This approach supports independence and helps children build awareness of their own needs while still allowing them to stay engaged in their play and exploration.
We ask that snacks be healthy, simple, and easy for children to open and eat on their own, helping to support independence and confidence during the day.
Snack Ideas for Wildmeadow Learning
We recommend packing simple, healthy snacks that your child can open and eat independently. Easy to manage foods help children stay engaged in their play while building confidence and independence.
Here are some snack ideas:
• Fresh fruit such as apple slices, strawberries, blueberries, or grapes (cut as needed)
• Sliced vegetables such as carrots, cucumbers, or bell peppers
• Cheese sticks or cubes
• Yogurt in an easy to open container or pouch
• Crackers or whole grain snacks
• Hard boiled eggs
• Trail mix or granola (if allowed and allergy safe)
• Mini sandwiches or wraps
Tips for packing snacks:
• Choose containers your child can open on their own
• Pack foods that are not too messy or complicated
• Keep portions simple and manageable
• Include a water bottle each day
• Please do not send glass containers or bottles for safety reasons
We encourage foods that support energy, focus, and outdoor play.
